Today starts the beginning of Episode 4 of CMYK! I'm really excited about this particular chapter so I hope everyone likes it as much as I do. I also re-uploaded the entire site to fix some things wrong with the background and links. If anyone finds any problems please let me know!

I would very much like to finish the Wordpress version of this site soon. It's just been slow going since I don't know much about coding and the site runs really slowly on my web host so I might need to look for a new one. Thanks for everyone's patience!Taikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07929069536269612904noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1323641175169721298.post-42977846927362674852014-11-23T20:42:00.001-08:002014-11-23T20:42:25.474-08:00CMYK Delays almost over!I am so sooo sorry about the lack of CMYK updates the past few months. There has been a lot of problems. Mainly medical because of my wisdom teeth situation. They had been causing me all kinds of problems this year and I finally was able to get them removed at the beginning of the month. I thought that'd be the end of it but for two weeks after that I was in a loooot of pain because I was unable to take the pain meds without getting really sick. All seems to be well now though and I've literally sketched and started the remaining 8 pages of Issue 3 of CMYK. I'm trying to have them all finished in the next few days so I can have it ready to be printed in time for Phoenix Comicon Fan Fest next month. So once they're done, consistent updates will be back on track! While the pages are going up I will be getting a head start on Issue 4 so that I an stay ahead. Thank you all again for your patience!Taikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07929069536269612904noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1323641175169721298.post-21481458503855649862014-06-25T19:26:00.000-07:002014-06-25T19:26:36.777-07:00CMYK Turns 1!

Episode 3 has started I can't believe it! :D I feel like I just started this comic yesterday. haha I'm currently trying to rebuild the site in Wordpress so that it works smoother for everyone. It's taking a while since I don't know much about Wordpress but I hope to have it ready before Phoenix Comicon. *crosses fingers*

Also, sorry about the recent spastic updates. Work has been crazy because of Spring Breaks spread out among the colleges and schools around here. I'm going to try to catch up on pages as soon as possible. I'm also trying to get stuff ready for Phoenix Comicon. haha so much to do, so little time. Thanks again for reading!Taikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07929069536269612904noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1323641175169721298.post-44230708234367708482013-12-13T20:33:00.000-08:002013-12-13T20:33:12.657-08:00Holiday Page DelaysHey everyone, I've posted this on the CMYK Facebook page and my Twitter but I wanted to apologize for the pages being late recently. Working in retail is taking up a lot of my time because of Christmas being so close and I haven't been able to sit down and draw. I've been working 6 days a week so I'm sorry about pages being so sparatic. I don't plan on "missing" updates. My goal is to never actually miss a page update with CMYK. Pages may be late, but I will always do my best to catch back up. As of right now I'm 2 pages behind but I am going to catch up in the next week. Thank you everyone for your patience!Taikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07929069536269612904noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1323641175169721298.post-38041496918050705942013-10-04T15:26:00.000-07:002013-10-04T15:29:06.864-07:00CMYK Episodes!Hey everyone! I hope you all enjoy the artwork that was posted today on CMYK! I will be posting an art piece "epilogue" at the end of every episode. It's kind of like... an after the credits scene. CMYK was highly inspired by 90's cartoons so I kind of wanted to incorporate some elements of them into the way CMYK is made.

The main thing I wanted people who read CMYK to know is that each episode has it's own self-contained story. The story doesn't really continue where it left off in the previous episode. Technically you can read each episode in any order, it doesn't matter. Some things will continue on, for example, if one of the characters got a pet in an episode, every episode that I make after that the pet will still be there but the story itself is self contained per Episode.

Also, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key will ALWAYS be colored. However I'm sure you've noticed that the other characters weren't. This won't always be the case. From now on, any character that is considered a major part of the story for a specific Episode will be colored.

I hope this makes sense and that people will enjoy how CMYK is laid out! Thanks for reading the first Episode!Taikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07929069536269612904noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1323641175169721298.post-46121285759063518412013-07-30T14:01:00.000-07:002013-07-30T14:02:49.406-07:00Midday UpdatesI'm sure most of you have noticed that some updates happen at midnight and some in the middle of the day on the day that CMYK is supposed to update. I apologize for this. I don't use Wordpress or any type of software that automatically uploads the pages to the internet. When updating Taiki it was much easier to remember to post the pages because back then I worked nights and would get off work at 11pm so I'd upload it after work. Since then though I now work in the mornings so sometimes I have to go to sleep as early as 8pm and tend to forget to upload the page and then end up doing it when I get home in the afternoon. I'm going to try harder to get the pages up earlier though! Even if that means I have to put sticky notes all of my monitor. haha Thanks for your patience everyone!Taikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07929069536269612904noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1323641175169721298.post-24084593238411796702013-06-25T00:06:00.000-07:002013-06-25T00:06:40.932-07:00CMYK Launch!Don't forget to hit the back button to see the cover of this Episode as well!

CMYK is finally here! I can't believe it. I started working behind the scenes on this comic in 2010 and it has changed SO MUCH. I'm really grateful for Hayley's help in writing it as well because doing Taiki I realized that writing was my biggest weakness. (Like, I can come up with concepts; beginning, middle, and end, but not the stuff in between those.) All the stuff she added to the script was such a huge surprise and I love it. I can't wait to share it with all of you readers.

I had originally wanted to launch CMYK with multiple pages but in the end I decided to only post 1 because it stood well on it's own and I felt like it was better for me to have a few pages as a buffer.

I hope you guys enjoy CMYK and let's get this started!Taikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07929069536269612904noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1323641175169721298.post-61443571344424961522013-05-20T14:11:00.000-07:002013-05-20T23:21:55.285-07:00Phoenix Comicon!

Wow! I can't believe it! After working on Taiki for 6 years it's over. Even though I had originally intended on the story going on much longer than it did, I do believe I did the right thing in ending it where I did. I will miss each and every character very much and I'm sad to see it end. It still hasn't really sunk in that it's over though it probably will once I'm done drawing the epilogue for the book. haha

I had no idea what I was doing when I started as you can probably tell so I am grateful for all of the things that I have learned doing this comic that I can put towards my future projects. I am also very grateful for all of my readers and fans. Thanks for sticking with me when I didn't update often and for coming back. I couldn't have done it without you guys! I met a lot of awesome people from doing this comic and I hope to stay friends with them even when moving onto new projects.

I can't believe how fast the Taiki Kickstarter was funded! Thanks again everyone who is helping me out with that! I understand that the timing was bad and not a lot of people have extra money around Christmas time so I appreciate all that you guys are doing for me. It's really exciting to see it made into a book and I can't wait for the moment that I can hold it in my hands. I'm sure it will be amazing!

As for my next comic CMYK, at this point I hope to start it in February once I'm done with all the Taiki book and Kickstarter stuff. I hope to see you guys there! =DTaikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07929069536269612904noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1323641175169721298.post-62843637327808384162012-10-13T19:29:00.000-07:002012-10-13T19:29:20.250-07:00Taiki Comic BookHey everyone, a lot has happened behind the scenes in Taiki news that I need to share. The company that was publishing my Taiki comics has decided to shut down so I will have to publish Taiki on my own. To do this I will need to have a Kickstarter. I posted a poll on the Taiki site asking how many people would actually buy the book so please add your input, it would be very helpful.

In the end I have decided to print the whole book as 1 entire story instead of having multiple volumes because it would save on cost and have a higher probability of selling. It was decided not to continue the issues that I originally started getting printed of Chapter 3 because they didn't sell very well unfortunately. As for the Kickstarter itself I would have bundles that include the original print run of Issue 1 of Chapter 3. This would be most likely the last chance to get those comics as the company behind them is sending me the last of them and will never be printed again.

So far what I have concluded for the book:

All 375 comic pages (not including the intermissions).

25 pages of extras (8 page mini Christmas comic never shown online, Epilogue, written out versions of original endings and other parts cut from the story, history of the Taiki characters, etc.)

Printed as a 400 page manga sized book.

Backer rewards would include pdf versions of the book, signed books, the original chapter 3 comic, possibly buttons, and original art. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions on what they would like to see please let me know! Thanks.

Having the entire story of Taiki in book form would be like a dream come true for me. I have worked on this project for 6 and half years and having a physical book of it to hold be just be amazing. :D

And as for news on CMYK, I had originally planned on finishing the Taiki pages a couple of months early and having CMYK start right away while the end of Taiki was still posting to the web but I don't think that will happen now. My work schedule is too hectic and I haven't gotten as many Taiki pages done as I had wanted. So CMYK will most likely start in January of 2013. February at the latest depending on how much of it I want to get done before starting it. Thank you for your patience if you're waiting for that one to start. C:

Wow! 6 years! I can't believe it! It kinda makes me sad that this will be the last anniversary of the comic while it is still actively being updated as it is planned to end at the end of the year. I wanted to thank all of my readers, long time readers and new ones for reading! Especially the long time readers who have kept with me during my long hiatuses during college.

The reason I drew them all as kids was because I was thinking to myself, “Taiki is 6 years old… wait, no she’s not…” and then I realized I had only ever drawn Taiki, Nikki, and Kai as kids and so I had a lot of fun drawing this. Raine and Lil didn't know each other as kids but I still wanted to draw them cute together.
For everyone who is interested in my next project after Taiki which is CMYK, an 8 page teaser comic is up to read so you can get a taste of the characters before the comic starts. Check it out on the CMYK website here!

I learned a lot doing these 8 pages. I experimented for the first time doing hand drawn panels and speech bubbles. The speech bubbles I ended up redrawing many times because they were originally more circular but after a while I liked the more square ones because it seems to blend with the art style more so I went back and changed them all. I also ended up altering Key's outfit AGAIN (this is the 3rd time) because his shirt was much to hard to draw over and over again.

I always buy the printed forms of my favorite ones to both support the artist and to have a collection. I especially like collecting the special edition ones that are signed and drawn in. haha So I'd like to share my collection so far if anyone is interested in knowing. C:

Anyone else own any webcomics in printed form? :]Taikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07929069536269612904noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1323641175169721298.post-61495677739229442712012-04-29T22:07:00.000-07:002012-04-29T22:09:07.378-07:00In the Next Year...I saw some more people asking about when Taiki may be ending. I'm planning on ending it at the end of the year/very beginning of next year. This chapter will be the last chapter and at this time has 70 more pages left. If I continue with my update schedule and don't miss any updates, I believe that the last page should be going up the first Tuesday of 2013 (Jan 1st 2013). Originally I had wanted the story of this comic to go on for a lot longer and into Taiki's college life but I decided against it. There's just so many other stories I want to make and I've already been working on Taiki for almost 6 years. I've learned a lot from it and I want to put that knowledge into fresh ideas. I will be very sad when it ends but I feel like it's the right thing to do. Along with that, some of you may know that I have another comic going on as well, a Pokemon fan comic called Ultimate Quest. I hope to also finish that one around the same time. I really do like doing two comics at once; an original one that is my priority and a 2nd one that would be a fan comic or something not as serious (a side project) to keep me from burning out from the other one. However that does mean that the 2nd one tends to not have an update schedule and frequently goes on hiatus...

I would like to formally announce that my next project after Taiki will be CMYK. It will be drawn in the same style as my Ultimate Quest. Originally I had intended to do Riley: Fighter for Hire next after Taiki but I have decided against it because I didn't have it fleshed out enough and want to practice a new inking format first. Which also leads to what my next side project will be. I believe that I will be doing the remake of my Kingdom Hearts: Crimson Secrets fan comic. That one would be drawn in the new inking format that I would practice before starting Riley later in the future. That part is subject to change but I don't think it will.

I know that this is like 8 months from now, but I didn't want it to come as a big surprise when it does happen.

I'm also wondering if anyone would be interested in buying printed copies of Taiki when it finishes? I was thinking of doing 3 volumes. Volume 1 would be Chapters 1-2 (150+ pages), Volume 2 would be Chapters 3-4 (150+ pages), and Volume 3 would be Chapter 5 plus lots of extras including behind the scenes things, original character concepts, and maybe a mini comic or something (100+ Pages). Mainly wondering because I would have to "redraw" chapters 1 and 2 to be print ready. xP

Well, that's it for now, thanks for reading! Feel free to ask my anything! Taikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07929069536269612904noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1323641175169721298.post-81386248333660989482012-04-03T21:31:00.006-07:002012-04-29T22:06:06.686-07:00New Taiki Site LayoutSo, I have changed my host so that I can have multiple domains on the same host. When doing so I could no longer use the built in site building software that was on my old host so I had to rebuild the entire Taiki website in a new program and thus the new layout. I hope that everyone likes it and this is probably how it will stay until Taiki finishes.

In this layout I have included a link to the new forums that is more general themed for future use by all the webcomics I will potentially write later on.

I'm still not very familiar with RSS feeds but I will try my best to work with the one I have put up with this new layout. I hope I can figure it out. hahaTaikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07929069536269612904noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1323641175169721298.post-8313883891908003812011-08-28T20:14:00.001-07:002012-04-29T22:06:25.714-07:00Taiki 5th Anniversary

Happy 5th Anniversary to Taiki! (I know it was 10 days ago lol) I can't believe it's been so long since I started this comic. I honestly never thought people outside my group of friends would ever read it. haha But I'm so glad that there are people out there that like it! So thinking back on what I've learned over the past 5 years, I'd like to share it with whomever reads this blog in hopes that it'll help you if you are new to drawing webcomics. I am by no means a professional or even super talented, but here goes regardless.

- Have an ending in mind if you don't already have the entire thing written out. When I started Taiki, I was totally like "OH EM GEE, I WANT THIS TO GO ON FOREVEEEERR!" That's not a good idea because then you're not really working towards anything.

- I'd suggest starting some short stories first. Starting a really long comic as your first project may not be a good idea. I have felt burnt out so many times and there's things I would like to change but then I'd have to redo hundreds of pages. For example, I kind of grew out of being a huge anime geek (I still watch some occasionally) so all the characters having Japanese names without being Japanese kind of bothers me now.

- Be sure it's something you want to do and are willing to sacrifice a lot of time doing. It's very unfortunate that people start comics all the time and loose interest. I tend to get ideas for new comics on a weekly basis and just want to run off and start them, but I don't because it's spur of the moment and the story doesn't mean something to me so I'm sure I'd lose interest. I do however keep track of all of these ideas so that maybe one day I can expand on them and complete them.

- Thumbnails, thumbnails, thumbnails! And scripting! (thumbnails are small sketched versions of a page and layout before actually making a page) After rereading Taiki, I feel like the transitions are awkward sometimes and some scenes go on way too long. It's important to thumbnail out at least a chapter ahead. My problem was that I only ever planned 3-6 pages ahead in Taiki when I should have done a lot more. Also having thumbnails makes me more productive because I know what I want to happen next instead of having to try to plan it out as I go.

- When starting a comic, I would suggest posting a few pages up all at once to get the readers interested and hooked. How many really depends on the comic, how long it is in entirety, and how it starts, but I'd suggest around 5 to begin with and then immediately start updating on a set schedule. I know I'm not the best at staying on schedule but I do understand how important it is. It's also important to have extra pages made, or in other words, a buffer.

If anyone has any other questions, feel free to ask!

It is my goal to finish Taiki by the end of 2012 (this date may change depending on how I finalize the ending). Not because I don't enjoy drawing it anymore or something like that, because I really do and I still love all of the characters. It's just that all things must end and all my readers have been waiting for me to work on this for so long. There's other projects I'd like to eventually work on so I hope you guys will enjoy them too when the time comes. C:Taikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07929069536269612904noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1323641175169721298.post-20994757640646484392011-07-01T15:15:00.001-07:002012-04-03T21:41:51.669-07:00Long time no see!
OH MAN! I can't believe it's been so long since I updated this. I'm sorry! Let me sum up what's been going on.

I read this on Bryan Lee O'Malley's (the creator of Scott Pilgrim) blog:

"My main interest as a writer/creator is in the ways that people rub against each other. Everyone is different, and all the different people interact with every other person in a unique way, so every individual relationship between two characters is its own discrete thing. I guess that’s some kind of insight."

It made me really think. I feel like all of my characters treat everyone else the same way. Like... as if everyone else was the same person to them. So with that, I'm going to try harder to make all of my characters have individual relationships with each other. Also I think one of my biggest problems is that I don't really plan very far ahead in my stories. I always have a basic outline of what I want to happen from beginning to end but I make up everything else as I go and after rereading some of the comics I've done... it really shows. This is also probably because I try to bite off more than I can chew. From what I've learned during my time drawing comics, it's not a very good idea to start with a long comic as your first project. I probably should have started with short one-shots or something. xD; As much as I love Taiki, I do want to do other things too.

As for Taiki in print, I'm sorry for taking so long with the next issue. I keep redrawing the cover because I never like it and I'm finding it hard to find time to edit all the pages like I did with the last one. This was mainly due to my job over at Trisphee but I stepped down there to hopefully get some more free time for my comic stuff, but the timing sucks because with summer here, my regular full time job gets busier and I work more hours.

For my other project Riley: Fighter for Hire, I had gotten the cover and first few pages done but after a lot of thinking I'm probably going to scrap the work I did for that as well. I'm going to take the time to write out the entire script and page thumbnails for the first issue before I start again (before I only had the first like... 5 or 6 pages scripted). I think in the end it will turn out better. I am also considering doing some redesigns on their outfits.

Also, I'd like to introduce my character designs for a comic project I came up with called CMYK:

Some of you may have seen this on my deviant Art but I've changed Key's design because I didn't like what he looked like before. I'm also tempted to change Yellow a little bit. As for when this comic will actually get drawn... I'm not sure because I'm still not confident enough in drawing that style yet.

There's just so many comics I want to make but so little time, it's quite unfortunate. I've been trying to learn to be more productive with my free time and have better time management so hopefully that goes well. haha
Taikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07929069536269612904noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1323641175169721298.post-43104214537492043932010-10-25T17:15:00.000-07:002010-10-25T17:40:37.224-07:00Taiki in Print

I just got these in! My friend Thom at Delmar's Vaudeville Publishing sent them to me to sign and once they get back to him, they'll be for sale~! This first issue of Chapter 3 will have the first 26 pages (pages 151-177 of the comic itself) complete with newly revised word balloons for easier reading, 3 print exclusive mini comics (4-komas), a few sketches, artist comments on all the pages, and brand new cover art! Again, the reason I started with Chapter 3 for print is because the first 2 chapters aren't at a high enough resolution to print in a decent quality and I need to do a lot of editing on them. They will eventually be for sale however so don't worry! I believe the price for this issue will be $6.50.

Also, I'd also suggest ordering a copy of Go Get a Roomie when it is released as well if you like Girl Love stuff! I personally love the comic and have a copy. ;D Though it is more Adult than Taiki. xD

Taikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07929069536269612904noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1323641175169721298.post-80651198646573806642010-09-07T01:24:00.001-07:002013-05-22T12:38:30.618-07:00Pokemon: Ultimate Quest
So I was kicking around this idea to do a really cartoonie comic in my Riley drawing style but quickly didn't like where it was going. I spent a few weeks trying to establish a new cartoonie style and came up with what you see here. The style is for a different comic, but I wanted to practice it a bit so I started this parody Pokemon webcomic called Ultimate Quest. (I don't really want to spend a lot of time on the strips, so I sketch them straight into the computer at 72 dpi, so it looks a bit sketchy). My future comic that this style is for is called CMYK. I will try to redo the character sheets I made for it and show it off a bit.Taikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07929069536269612904noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1323641175169721298.post-7977579266374339812010-08-30T17:11:00.000-07:002010-10-25T18:58:35.382-07:00Taiki in Print - Coming Soon!
Soooo who's ready for some Taiki?! The first part of Chapter 3 is being sent to the printers~! After much collaboration with my friend Thom (of Delmar's Vaudeville Publishing), we decided it would be best to start with Chapter 3 for print because Chapters 1 and 2 need a ton of editing and are at such a low resolution. I didn't start making the resolution higher when drawing the comic until Chapter 3. The first issue of Chapter 3 will have the first 26 pages (pages 151-177 of the comic itself) complete with newly revised word balloons for easier reading, 3 print exclusive mini comics (4-komas), a few sketches, artist comments on all the pages, and brand new cover art! Also, the first 20 copies ordered will be signed by me! I don't know the exact date that I drew it except I know that it was during my sophmore year of high school which was 2003/2004. Back when I used to ink everything with pens. haha The "insert this here" things aren't part of the original, I just had never gotten around to drawing those panels. I found the first 5 pages to this comic in a box of old art in my closet. I really wanted to redraw it because it is deffinately one of my favorite stories I've written. I'm not starting it right away, I just made the cover because I wanted to take a small break from a bunch of Taiki stuff. I may change a few things on it later but for now this is what it is. I'm not sure how distracting the doodles behind them are. haha I added a link to the blog header thing to the Smackjeeves page I made for it for when I do get it going. Also, I will only be posting the first issue online and after that, the issues will be released into the store. Sorry to everyone who is unable to buy things online. D: I will not be putting Taiki on hiatus or anything for Riley. Taiki is my main comic and my priority.Taikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07929069536269612904noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1323641175169721298.post-68683925567485754142010-07-16T03:34:00.000-07:002010-07-16T03:51:45.998-07:00Riley Concepts I actually started this comic before Taiki back in 2004. I started it by inking and shading (with a pencil) it back before I really knew how to edit things on the computer. I only got like... 6 or so pages into it. haha Maybe if I dig through my old art box I can find the original pages. I know they're in there somewhere. I took a comicing class last year and one of the projects was to make a comic with each page in a different style (I posted it on dA) and the final page was to make our own style and these are the characters I used for it and it was in this style. Recently I've been drawing them a lot in this style instead of my normal style just for fun and practice and I'm really considering redrawing the comic and continuing it like this. I also decided it was better if I changed their names. It was originally called "Reikai : Fighter for Hire". Reikai isn't even a name, I just added an "i" to the name "Reika" for some reason. Also I did not want the boy's name to be Sasuke. I was going to make it into a joke but I decided against that as well. So Reikai is now Riley and Sasuke is now Cody (not 100% set in stone, but those are what I'm going with for the time being). I can't decide on Miya, I kind of want to keep her name the same but I'm also concidering Leila. I don't want my comics to look uber Weeaboo or whatever so since they aren't Japanese, I don't want them all to have Japanese names.

Taikihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07929069536269612904noreply@blogger.com2
